The Smiths to reform for Coachella 2009?

Reports say band are close to reunion deal

Speculation has renewed that The Smiths may be on the verge of reforming.

According to a report in The Sun today (October 24), the four original members are close to signing a deal that would see them performing at the Coachella festival in California next year.

It is suggested that Morrissey‘s new manager – former MCA records boss Irving Azoff – has been instrumental in the proposed deal.

A source is quoted as saying: “It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen. The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money.

“It’s closer than it’s ever been. The split was a messy affair, but time’s a healer.”
