SPICE TO SUE YOU, TO SUE YOU, SPICE!

Italian scooter firm takes girls - and ex-Spice Geri - to court over sponsorship row...

SPICE GIRL EMMA BUNTON and ex-bandmate Geri Halliwell are due to appear in London’s High Court later this week in a million pound battle with an Italian scooter firm.

The firm, Aprillia SpA, is suing the Spice Girls for nearly #1.5 million, claiming a sponsorship deal they entered into with them was affected by Ginger Spice’s departure from the group in 1998.

Aprillia claims, among other things, it brought out a limited edition of a ‘Sonic Scooter’ called the ‘Spice Sonic’, but the promotion around the new product was thrown into chaos after Geri dropped out of the group.

The Spice Girls are in turn suing Aprillia , which is based in the small Italian town of Noale, near Venice, for around #212,500 which they claim is still owed to them in respect of the sponsorship deal.

Both women are expected to be called during the case which is estimated to last eight days. It’s also possible other members of the Spice Girls could be called.

The hearing continues.
