Aw, and the fans were just longing to hear that new material...
The SPICE GIRLS have definitely cancelled plans for a 2001 world tour, EMMA BUNTON has confirmed.
In an interview prior to the release of ‘Forever’, Mel B told Trevor Nelson of plans for an extensive tour late in 2001. The Spice Girl suggested that as well as Spice hits, each band member would be performing songs from their solo catalogues.
However, as Bunton now confirms, “The Spice Girls are not touring this year, but I will go out on my own. It’s a scary thought, but I know I’ll enjoy it.”
Solo activity for the girls should be in full swing this year, with a solo tour for Mel B, as well as albums from Victoria Beckham and Emma Bunton.
The band’s collective work may be thin on the ground, though. As NME.COM revealed last week, Virgin Records have commissioned remixes of the proposed single ‘Tell Me Why’, but have no plans for its release in the light of disappointing sales of ‘Forever’.
