SPICE GIRLS’ PIECE OF PUSS

Virgin's plans for 'Tell Me Why' single still sketchy...

A hi-NRG remix of the next SPICE GIRLS single, ‘TELL ME WHY’, is available to hear on the Internet now – even though VIRGIN RECORDS have yet to schedule the single’s release.

Thunderpuss 2000’s remix of ‘Tell Me Why’ is listed on the duo’s official website as having been completed for Virgin Records during December 2000, with a link to streaming audio versions of the full track. However, a spokesperson for the Spice Girls has told NME.COM that the company’s plans for the single are still sketchy.

Some commentators are already wondering whether ‘Tell Me Why’ would perform the chief function of a single – to boost sales of last year’s album ‘Forever’ – but a remix by the likes of Thunderpuss 2000 would at least reach further in terms of club rotation. In the past 18 months, Thunderpuss 2000 have established themselves as one of the world’s most important pop remixing outfits. With a CV including work for Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston, their work tends to centre on divas, and one half of the duo scored an international hit in the late ’80s as Kon Kan with ‘I Beg Your Pardon’.
