The Spice Girls to perform at the Olympics closing ceremony

Kate Bush, Jessie J, Brian May, Tinie Tempah, George Michael are also pictured in rehearsals

The Spice Girls are almost certain to perform at the Olympic Games closing ceremony on Sunday (August 12).

The line-up for the closing ceremony, which will celebrate 50 years of British music, is being kept a closely guarded secret, with only Muse, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and George Michael having confirmed that they will be performing so far.

However, the multi-million selling girlband, who last performed together in February 2008, look set to reunite for the closing ceremony, with pictures emerging of them in rehearsals.

Also pictured seemingly practising for the ceremony were Tinie Tempah, Queen guitarist Brian May, Jessie J, George Michael, Annie Lennox and Monty Python‘s Eric Idle.

The Sun also reports that Kate Bush has been spotted in rehearsals for the show as have Fatboy Slim, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness and the Pet Shops Boys.

David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are also set to appear as their Only Fools And Horses‘ characters Del Boy and Rodney and are rumoured to be re-enacting their classic ‘Batman and Robin’ sequence.

The ceremony is set to display a series of London’s key landmarks, with Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Battersea Power Station, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Royal Albert Hall and the London Eye all brought to life.

Yesterday (August 9), Muse posted a sneak preview picture from the Olympic Games closing ceremony rehearsals on Twitter. The picture, which you can see above, is titled ‘Warming up…’ and shows the band’s frontman Matt Bellamy trailed by a host of drummers in gold costumes.

‘A Symphony of British Music: Music For The Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games’, an album containing music performed on the final night, will be released digitally on August 12.
