The Spice Girls will reunite as a four piece, it has been confirmed after months of speculation.
This year marks two decades since the girl group’s breakthrough single ‘Wannabe’, which was released in July 1996, leading to suggestions that the group will reunite for live dates to mark the anniversary.
Following reports that Victoria Beckham is “too busy” for a reunion, Geri Halliwell (now known by her married name of Geri Horner) has confirmed that the regroup will just be “the four of us”, as reported by BBC Newsbeat.
The singer – known in the group as Ginger Spice – added that there’s nothing “definite or concrete” but “when it’s definite we’ll announce it together”.
Spice Girls originally reformed for a tour in 2007. Beckham appeared alongside her bandmates in 2012 at the London Olympics closing ceremony, performing a medley of their songs. That was their most recent performance but is also likely to be Beckham’s last.
“Sometimes you’ve got to know when it’s time to leave the party,” Beckham told Vanity Fair last year.
“Doing the Olympics was an incredible honour. I was so proud to do it. That was a perfect time to say, ‘That’s great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.'”
