The welding of last summer's rival chart songs by Spiller and Truesteppers is set for release in September...
According to The Sun newspaper today (August 2), no one has yet owned up to the remix, which is a hybrid of the two tracks that were head-to-head last August in one of the most fiercely-fought battles for the Number One slot since the Battle of Britpop between Blur and Oasis.
The Spiller single, which featured guest vocals from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, pipped Truesteppers‘ effort to the Number One slot. Spice Girl star Beckham shared vocals with Dane Bowers on the Truesteppers track.
Now Ministry Of Sound, who own ‘Groovejet’ and BMG, who own ‘Out Of Your Mind’, are negotiating to release the mix.
The newspaper further claims that the single could be released on the same day as Victoria Beckham’s solo debut ‘Not Such An Innocent Girl’, which is being released on September 17 through Virgin, who Beckham has a solo deal with.
An unnamed source at BMG is quoted as saying: “We are hoping to release it on the same week as her new single, but we will have to wait and see. I’m sure Victoria will hate it but there is not a lot she can do about it. We are not her usual record company but she brought ‘Out Of Your Mind’ out with us, so we own the rights to those vocals.”
At press time Beckham’s spokesperson was unavailable for comment.
