Back to business for the foursome, straight in at Number One...

Spice Girls have gone straight to Number One with their comeback single ‘HOLLER’/’LET LOVE LEAD THE WAY’.

The single, a double A-side, was the highest new entry in this week’s chart and is the first Spice Girls release in almost two years. The single is a taster from the group’s forthcoming album ‘Forever’, which is released in the UK on November 6 through Virgin.

The single is the group’s ninth Number One – only The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard and Madonna have had more UK Number One singles.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 following the announcement of the charts yesterday (October 29), Spice Girl Victoria Beckham said: “We just want to say thank you. We’re all so, so happy, really excited… big thank you to all the fans.”

Beckham also almost certainly ruled out the possibility of a Christmas single release for the girls.

Other high new entries in the chart came from Martine McCutcheon with her new single ‘I’m Over You’ at Number Two, and Ricky Martin‘s ‘She Bangs’ at Number Three. Steps, last week’s Number One with ‘Stomp’, fell four places to Number Five.

NME.COM will bring you updates on who, if anybody, is most likely to knock the Spice Girls off the top of the charts this coming Sunday (November 5) throughout the week.
