The Stone Roses confirm release of new single ‘Beautiful Thing’

It will be released at midnight (June 9)

The Stone Roses have announced that they will be releasing their new single, ‘Beautiful Thing’, at midnight tonight.

Details of the song emerged on the website of music copyright site PPL last night (June 8). PPL is the copyright organisation which oversees the playing of songs in public. The Stone Roses registered that ‘Beautiful Thing’ lasts for seven minutes.

When it was spotted by Stone Roses fan groups, it was speculated that it will become the band’s second single following the release of ‘All For One’ on May 13. Now, it has been confirmed that ‘Beautiful Thing’ will follow up that track, which is due for release as a 7” vinyl on July 1.

As previously reported, Reni told a fan before Tuesday’s warm-up show at Halifax Victoria Theatre that the band had “100%” recorded new material in addition to ‘All For One’ which he said sounded “beautiful” – hinting at the title of ‘Beautiful Thing’.

It has been widely reported that band insiders heard two songs produced by Paul Epworth several weeks before the release of ‘All For One’. It isn’t yet clear if ‘Beautiful Thing’ is the second of those songs or another track. NME will give updates on the new track at midnight.
