Public Enemy to support The Stone Roses at their Manchester stadium shows

Courteeners, The Coral and Heaton & Abbott among the other Etihad Stadium guests.

Public Enemy have been announced as special guests for The Stone Roses’ four concerts at Manchester Etihad Stadium this summer.

The band will appear at the shows on June 15 and June 17-19. Other guests have been announced for the four concerts too.

Chronixx and Blossoms will support on June 15, while The Coral and Buzzcocks are guests on June 17. Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott and Audioweb are guests on June 18, with Courteeners and Songhoy Blues the guests on the final show on June 19.

Courteeners greeted their slot with a tweet reading: “This. Is. Happening.”

The shows are The Stone Roses’ only headline shows in the UK to be announced this year, apart from a festival show at T In The Park on July 8.

The concerts follow The Stone Roses’ comeback single ‘All For One’, which was released on May 12. Produced by Paul Epworth, it was the band’s first single since they reformed in 2012 and their first new material since 1995’s second album ‘The Second Coming’.

There has been no news of further new material, though it’s thought that at least one other new song has been completed.

As well as their Stone Roses supports, Public Enemy play a headline show at London Indigo2 on June 16 and also play at Common People festivals this weekend on May 28-29 before embarking on a US tour which starts on June 21.
