Band released first new music in over two decades on Thursday
Manchester United footballer Juan Mata has given his verdict on the new single from The Stone Roses.
The Manchester band released their first new music in over two decades on Thursday, unveiling their new track ‘All For One’.
Following the song’s release, Manchester Evening News filmed Spanish midfielder Mata listening to the song for the first time while having dinner in the city’s Northern Quarter.
“Good. It is very good,” Mata said of the track, further describing it as “very nice”. Watch in the video below.
When asked if he would see the band live at rivals Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium this summer, Mata seemed unsure but said he would if they played at United’s ground Old Trafford.
“I wish them the best with the new album,” he added.
Rumours about The Stone Roses returning with new music have circulated for years, with the band first reforming for a series of gigs in 2012.
News that the band were holed up in London and working on their third studio album was confirmed by NME earlier this year.
Recent tabloid reports claimed that the group’s third album would arrive this summer to coincide with their upcoming live dates, which include four headline shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.
In addition to their Manchester headline shows, The Stone Roses have gigs lined up in Dublin, New York and Japan, as well as a headline slot at T In The Park.
