The Stone Roses add two extra Manchester dates following ‘unprecedented’ demand for tickets

Band will now play four nights at Manchester's Etihad Stadium in 2016

The Stone Roses have added two extra dates to their run of gigs at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium in June next year, bringing the total up to four nights.

Earlier this week, the band confirmed two shows at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium on June 17 and 18, 2016 plus a headline slot at next year’s T In The Park. The gigs will be the band’s first live performances since playing London and Glasgow in 2013.

The band reported “unprecedented” demand for tickets this morning as they added a third date (June 19) to their schedule. When that gig sold out immediately it was confirmed the band will also play on Wednesday, June 15.

Tickets cost £64.90 each standing, while reserved seating costs up to £82.50. Tickets went on sale at 9:30am this morning. Meanwhile, hospitality tickets are available for the price of £358.80. The Etihad Stadium has a capacity of 60,000 for gigs with three dates sold out at the time of writing.

The gigs were first announced following posters of lemons appearing in record stores across Manchester. Images of the lemon, which has appeared on the band’s posters and album artwork in the past, appeared around the city with sightings confirmed at Close barber’s shop on Greater Ancoats Street and the Vinyl Revival record store on Hilton Street.

The Stone Roses are also now second favourites to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival, according to bookmakers Betfair.

The band are now listed behind Adele as among the bookies’ top tips to headline the Saturday leg of the Worthy Farm event in 2016.
