Ahead of the announcement Radio X DJ Vernon Kay also tweeted his delight at The Stone Roses’ plans.

Others were disappointed that further dates hadn’t been announced south of the border.

The news comes after posters of lemons appeared in record stores across Manchester this morning (November 2). Images of the lemon, which has appeared on the band’s posters and album artwork in the past, appeared around the city with sightings confirmed at Close barber’s shop on Greater Ancoats Street and the Vinyl Revival record store on Hilton Street.

The Stone Roses are also now second favourites to headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival, according to bookmakers Betfair.

The band are now listed behind Adele as among the bookies’ top tips to headline the Saturday leg of the Worthy Farm event in 2016.

Colm Rock of Betfair said: “The odds of the Stone Roses to headline the Saturday at Glastonbury have plummeted from 10/1 to 7/2 second favourites.”
