The Stone Roses fans give verdict on band’s first Manchester Etihad Stadium gig

Band played first of four hometown shows last night (June 15)

The Stone Roses played the first of their four shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium last night (Wednesday, June 15) with fans giving their verdict online.

Supported by Blossoms, Chronixx and Public Enemy, the Manchester band played a massive hometown show following their recent comeback tracks ‘All For One’ and ‘Beautiful Thing’.

They will play three additional gigs on Friday (June 17), Saturday (June 18) and Sunday (June 19). See stage times here.

Reacting online, fan response has largely been positive. Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh said that he “can’t believe how brilliant” the band were live, describing them as a “bunch of fucking nutjobs!”

Another fan said: “Words can’t describe how good The Stone Roses were last night”. However, one fan admitted that singer Ian Brown’s voice “sounded so bad”.
