Woman dies after fall at The Stone Roses Glasgow Green gig

The 24-year-old was one of 50,000 fans who turned out to watch the band on Saturday (June 15)

A 24-year-old woman has died in hospital after falling at The Stone Roses‘ Glasgow Green gig on Saturday night (June 15).

The woman was among the 50,000 fans who attended the gig this weekend. She was initially treated on-site before being transferred to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where she died, the BBC reports. A police spokesperson told the BBC that a post mortem examination will be held to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death.

As many as 24 arrests were made for anti-social and drug offences at the gig, which was the site of the classic line-up of the band’s last ever show together on June 9, 1990, before they reunited in 2011.

The gig started in the afternoon, with performances from The View, Jake Bugg and Primal Scream, who the previous night played a secret gig to around 200 people at Glasgow’s Poetry Club.
