Footballer says he was never a fan of clubbing
Football player David Beckham has said that the only things that mattered to him as a teenager were his team – Manchester United – and his favourite band – The Stone Roses.
Now playing midfield for Paris Saint-Germain, the British sporting hero was speaking about his music taste with Man About Town magazine.
I wasn’t a clubby person. I haven’t been a big clubby person my whole life, you know, even at a very young age, which I think has helped me throughout my career. I’ve got nothing against going out and having a good time, but for me it was all about Manchester United… and, of course, The Stone Roses.
Meanwhile, tickets for the world premiere of Shane Meadows’ highly anticipated documentary, The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone, sold out in one last Thursday (April 18). All tickets for the screening, which will take place at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester and will be attended by the band, sold out completely. Additionally, eight cinemas participating in the UK wide simultaneous broadcast also sold out, prompting the distributor Picturehouse to put on additional screens to meet demand.
Speaking about the popularity of the event, film director Shane Meadows said: “I’d love to think the tickets selling out so quick was down to the fanbase I’ve built up over the last 15-20 years, but I know it’s them lot that everyone’s really coming to see. Bald Chunkers like me don’t sell out stadiums, but if we’ve got a Guinness World Record I would deffo take the credit.” The trailer for the film was revealed earlier this week.
