Band also play six tracks from 'Is This It' in Carlisle
The band headlined the event’s In New Music We Trust stage, playing a set that lasted just under an hour and included six songs from their 2001 debut album ‘Is This It’.
The New York quintet, who came onstage to Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’, debuted three songs from new album ‘Angles’, single ‘Under Cover Of Darkness’, ‘You’re So Right’ and ‘Taken For A Fool’.
Singer Julian Casablancas spoke to the crowd only a handful of times, saying “Alright people. How’s it going? It’s a pleasure to be here” at the start of the set and only a brief “Thank you” twice after that. The band left the stage swiftly at the end of the set, finishing with a brash ‘Take It Or Leave It’ and no encore.
The Strokes return to the UK in July and August to play a series of festivals, including a headline slot at Reading And Leeds Festivals.
The Strokes played:
‘I Can’t Win’
‘Hard To Explain’
‘Under Cover Of Darkness’
‘New York City Cops’
‘You’re So Right’
‘The Modern Age’
‘You Only Live Once’
‘Taken For A Fool’
‘Take It Or Leave It’
