Check out NME's world exclusive comeback interview
The Strokes‘ Julian Casablancas has told NME.COM that he hopes to stage a series of elaborate gigs to mark the release of his debut solo record.
Speaking in an exclusive cover story interview, which features in the new issue of NME out on UK newsstands today (August 12), the singer said he hoped to play shows on both sides of the Atlantic following the release of ‘Phrazes For The Young’ at the end of September.
“Will I play UK solo shows? Yeah, sure! It will probably be October, roughly, but yes!” declared Casablancas, who has already revealed his plans for “special” dates in north America.
However, along with talking about the album, his lyrical inspirations and The Strokes‘ future in the interview, Casablancas explained that the shows may be a little different to what he does normally.
“I’m in the process of figuring out what kind of show it’s going to be,” he said. “It’s like anything, it’s starting out probably a little bit too ambitious so we’ve got to figure out what we can and can’t do and that will dictate how much touring happens. Ideally, I’m going to try to put on some over-the-top, amazing, Disney shows.
“Not Disney, but you know how they have some amazing rides where you feel like you’re in a weird world, like the Epcot Centre or something? I’m not thinking of the big Goofy costume but I was thinking of how those rides make you feel with lots of set changes and stuff. But that might not happen and we’ll do straight shows, I haven’t quite figured it out yet, it’s the next thing to do.”
