THE WIGHT STUFF?

Classic rock festival's comeback planned for the summer...

Strokes, White Stripes, Pulp, Charlatanshave all been approached to play the return of the ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL on June 3, NME.COM can reveal.

John Giddings of promotion company Solo told NME.COM that the 20,000 capacity event would serve as a warm-up for Glastonbury should the Somerset festival go ahead – or serve as something of a replacement should it be cancelled, which may happen as the licence row rumbles on.

Isle Of Wight Council also confirmed to NME.COM that they were pushing ahead to relaunch the festival which will be held at Seaclose Park, Newport, to coincide with the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.
