The pop perfectionists have "writers' block" over what to call their new tune...
Strokes are so under pressure to record the follow-up to their hit debut album ‘IS THIS IT’ that they can’t think of a name for a new track they’ve written for it, NME.COM has learned.
The latest written for their eagerly-anticipated follow-up album is still called ‘Newie’ or ‘Untitled’ – despite the fact that the band debuted it in public a month ago at their New Year’s Eve gig at the New York Apollo Theater.
It’s the second new track they’ve written recently, the first being ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom’, which they also played at their NYE gig.
Strokes have now written a total of 14 songs in their current incarnation.
A source close to the band told NME.COM: “The thing is, everything has to be so ‘just right’ for the band that they’ve just got writers’ block over what to call this new track. I’m sure they’ll come up with something soon though,” he laughed.
Strokes are currently on tour in the States, but play two dates in the UK on February 23&24 at Leeds University and Birmingham Academy respectively. They then return for a seven-date UK and Ireland tour, kicking off on March 22 at Glasgow Barrowlands. All dates are sold out.
