Taking to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Valensi and his new project delivered an assured and rousing performance to launch their debut album ahead of their US tour.

Comprising of five musicians – including Valensi on guitar – the line-up is completed by The Dose drummer Ralph Alexander, Guards and Willowz guitarist Richie James Follin, LA musician Darian Zahedi, and The Reflections member Jon Safley. The band were introduced to world online back in August, before playing their first live shows. UK dates are expected to be announced soon.

This week also saw Valensi confirm that The Strokes were working on their long-awaited new album.

“We are slowly but surely working on an album,” he said. “I don’t know when it’s going to be released, we’re kind of just in writing sessions. We’re writing.”

“I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that,” he added.

Valensi had previously told NME that The Strokes had plans to release new music “next year”, adding: “If I start saying a lot now, people get too excited. Then there’s all this hype you’ve got to compete with, and that’s not fun. If anything, I’d rather just pull a Beyoncé at some point next year and just drop shit.”
