The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas announces first solo dates of 2014

Frontman to appear at Lollapalooza in Chile and Argentina alongside Arcade Fire

The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has announced his first solo dates of 2014.

Casablancas will perform solo at Lollapalooza in Chile and Argentina next year on a bill that was announced yesterday yesterday (November 4). Other artists on the line-up include Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Soundgarden.

Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes recently denied the New Yorkers are back in the studio following a statement that the band are preparing a “return to the scene” last month. Casablancas’ solo dates would hint at the possibility of a new album from the frontman, a follow up to his 2009 debut ‘Phrazes For The Young’.

Speaking to NME earlier this year, Albert Hammond Jr said that there could be “10 more Strokes albums” in the future. “There might be times when we’re not doing things but I don’t feel like we’ll ever stop,” he said. “We’ve come to the point where we’ve been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we’re doing? We’re just together.”

Other artists included on the line-up for Lollapalooza in Chile and Argentina next year include Pixies, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, Jake Bugg and New Order.
