Sunshine Underground and Klaxons in DJ stand off

Bands party to excess on Shockwaves NME Award Indie Rave Tour

Self confessed “squeaky clean” ravers The Sunshine Underground got themselves in a spot of after show bother last week (February 14) after their Bristol Carling Academy show on the Shockwaves NME Award Indie Rave Tour circuit culminated in a night of DJ sabotage for band member Craig Wellington.

Joining the party after an earlier set due to sickness in the New Young Pony Club camp, the DJing Klaxons set was launched into full swing with the arrival of The Sunshine Underground, who after sampling a few vodkas too many, were “banished” from the DJ booth after invading the area. The ejection only spurred Craig on to further mischief as he snuck behind the bar to pour the band their own drinks.

Writing in his exclusive Rave blog for nme.com, fellow band mate Daley Smith wrote: “Apparently Craig got banished from the DJ booth for randomly pressing buttons and turning knobs, whilst Klaxons were DJing. Then he went behind the bar to try and pour his own drinks, which obviously didn’t go down so well…”
