London quartet debate new album backstage at Reading
The Vaccines have confessed that they have yet to make headway on their second album.
The group released their debut ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’ in March this year. But speaking backstage at Reading festival, guitarist Freddie Cowan told NME that: “We don’t generally write on the road. We’ve got some time off coming up. But I couldn’t even tell you about the new album because we haven’t thought about it yet.”
Bassist Arni Hjörvar jokingly added: “We haven’t thought about it but it’s on our minds. We’re aware that the normal way to do it is to release another record at some point. And that that will involve some writing.”
Meanwhile, the pair reflected on their year so far, concluding that the highlight was a January gig in New York’s Bowery Ballroom.
“We got to meet Debbie Harry. It was one of those pinch yourself days. There have been some special days since then, but that was my favourite. It was the first time I felt like we were in a proper band.”
