THE VERVE will headline this year’s V98 Festival, which takes place over two days at Chelmsford and Leeds on August 22 & 23.

The Verve will play above The Seahorses in Chelmsford and in Leeds. The Charlatans and Texas will also be co-headlining over the weekend. Robbie Williams and Green Day are among other artists currently being lined up for V98.

Ticket details for the festival and the full line-up will be announced on NME.com in the coming weeks. The Verve’s Wigan Haigh Hall show on May 24 has now sold out. The 33,000 tickets available went in just over one hour.

Meanwhile, The Verve and Hut Recordings have come to an agreement over the group’s refusal to allow any more singles to be released from their ‘Urban Hymns’ album. Hut will release ‘Sonnet’ as part of a set of four, 12″ records. The release will be limited to 5,000 and will not be eligible for the charts.

It will be released on March 2 and will be backed by ‘Stamped’, ‘So Sister’ and ‘Echo Base’. The single will come in a cardboard mailer and the band’s other three ‘Urban Hymns’ singles, ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ and ‘Lucky Man’, will be re-released on vinyl at the same time and will fit into the mailer.
