The View celebrate first Top Ten success

Plus all the other news from an eventful week in the UK charts

The View are celebrating their first top ten UK single tonight (January 21).

’Same Jeans’ has seen The View climb up to Number Three after the physical single was released this week.

Meanwhile Mika has finally knocked Leona Lewis off the top spot, as his track ’Grace Kelly’ is now Number One, with the X Factor winner falling to Six.

Just Jack moves up to a Number Two with ’Starz In Their Eyes’, while The Ordinary Boys reach Number Seven with ’I Luv U’ and Jamie T’s ‘Calm Down Dearest’ claims an impressive Number Nine.

Klaxons ’Golden Skans’ is at Number 14, while Koopa who became the first unsigned band to enter the Top 40 on downloads alone last week have dropped out of the poll.

However the the new chart rules that allow any purchased download to be counted towards the countdown have had an impact on the Top 40 again.

Following a campaign by Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, Billie Piper’s 1998 track ’Honey To The Bee’ has returned to the charts at Number 17 despite not officially being released as a single.

This week’s top ten singles are:

1. Mika – ‘Grace Kelly’

2. Just Jack – ‘Starz In Their Eyes’

3. View – ‘Same Jeans’

4. Jojo – ‘Too Little Too Late’

5. Eric Prydz Vs Floyd – ‘Proper Education’

6. Leona Lewis – ‘A Moment Like This’

7. Ordinary Boys – ‘I Luv U’

8. Take That – ‘Patience’

9. Jamie T – ‘Calm Down Dearest’

10. Booty Luv – ‘Boogie 2nite’

The album charts see little change, with Amy Winehouse staying top with ’Back To Black’.
