The band play the first of two secret gigs as Foregone Conclusion in Sydney...

Vines have just come offstage in SYDNEY after the first of two secret shows leading up to their slot at this weekend’s HOMEBAKE FESTIVAL, marking their first live appearance since the completion of their second album.

The highly anticipated gigs have been advertised under the name Foregone Conclusion for several weeks, including on the band’s website where fans were told that one of Vines’ “favourite groups of all time” would be playing at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney’s inner western suburbs. The band last played at the venue before their first UK tour in February 2002.

Despite one of the group’s managers telling NME.COM he was “worried” no one would turn up for the shows, around 400 fans and invited guests watched the band run through a 16-song set, which culminated in live favourite ‘Fuck The World’.

The set relied heavily on tracks from the band’s as-yet-unnamed album due for release in February, including ‘TV Pro’, a song that sounds like a combination of early track ‘Drown The Baptists’ and ‘Highly Evolved’.

Forgone Conclusion are set to play another show at the Annandale Hotel tomorrow night (December 4), before Vines appear at Homebake this Saturday (December 6).
