NME.COM has unearthed a series of early recordings by Vines which feature the band’s original line-up and include unreleased songs.

Vines recorded their album ‘Highly Evolved’‘ in LA as producer Rob Schnapf wanted to use the famous Sunset Sound Studios, used by the Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin and Beck. But earlier recordings have now emerged from way back in 1999, including alternative versions of the album songs and unreleased material. They also feature original drummer David Oliffe.

NME.COM has heard 18 songs, many different versions of the songs on ‘Highly Evolved’ but also B-sides and unreleased songs such as ‘Winning Days’, ‘Ride’ and ‘Landslide’.

The first sessions were recorded at the A Sharp studios in Sydney with studio engineer Glenn Santry. The unreleased songs include ‘Winning Days’ and ‘She’s Got Something To Say To Me’. Another session was recorded later with new songs ‘Rainfall’ and ‘Ride’. Both songs are tipped to appear on the second [a][/a] album and ‘Ride’ – which has a similar feel to ‘Get Free’ – has suddenly appeared in their set lists for gigs.
