The Walkmen to start work on new album this month

New York band team up with The Shins producer Phil Ek

The Walkmen are set to head into the studio to start work on their next album in the coming weeks.

The New York band are planning to release their as-yet-untitled LP next summer and they will begin recording with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins, Modest Mouse) later this month, reports Pitchfork.

The Walkmen are also marking their 10 year anniversary in 2012 with a series of anniversary shows in the US. So far, dates in Chicago and San Francisco at the turn of the year have been announced.

The band are also planning to release their debut LP ‘Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone’ on vinyl for the first time ever on January 10, 2012.

Only 1,000 copies of their 2002 debut have been pressed for the forthcoming release. Further information can be found about the record at

The band’s most recent album ‘Lisbon’, their sixth studio effort, was released in September 2010.
