'Sing to Me' will feature on Martin's new solo album 'We're All Young Together'
The track – which you can listen to below – will feature on Martin’s new solo album ‘We’re All Young Together’, which is set for release in May. The album also hosts guest appearances from Karen’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmate Nick Zinner as well The National’s frontman Matt Berninger and Hamilton Leithauser and Matt Barrick of The Walkmen, writes Pitchfork.
The Walkmen will break their self-imposed “extreme hiatus” for an NBA All-Star gig this week. Bass player Peter Bauer revealed late last year that the band have no plans to write or record together in the future and that they had played their last live date in promotion of 2012 album ‘Heaven’.
However, they will come out of retirement to perform live at the Rock On Foundation’s first Alt-Star Party during the NBA All-Star break. The event is being held by San Antonio Spurs’ player Matt Bonner and will take place at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans on February 15. Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson will also DJ on the night.
Speaking about the band’s return, frontman Hamilton Leithauser said: “We thought it might take a lifetime to get us back together—til the Alt-Star Party gave us the nod. How could we stay on the bench? We’re coming 110%. Full-court press. Man to man. Rock n Roll, Pick n Roll.”
The Walkmen formed in 2000 and have released seven studio albums, including last year’s ‘Heaven’. Emerging alongside The Strokes, Interpol and Yeah Yeahs as a raft of bands broke out of New York at the turn of the century, The Walkmen are perhaps best known for their song ‘The Rat’, which appeared on 2004 album ‘Bows + Arrows’.
