The Weeknd pulls out of Rihanna ‘Anti’ tour support slot

R&B performer leaves tour due to 'unforeseen changes with upcoming projects'

The Weeknd will no longer support Rihanna on her ‘Anti’ world tour, it has been announced.

Rihanna recently kicked off her tour in support of latest album ‘Anti’, also supported by Travi$ Scott and Big Sean.

However promoters Live Nation have no confirmed that R&B singer The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) will no longer be part of the tour due to “unforeseen changes with upcoming projects”.

The statement reads: “Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international ‘Anti’ World Tour.”

It is not yet known if The Weeknd will be replaced.


Rihanna is heading to the UK and Ireland later this summer. She will play the following live dates:

Aviva Stadium, Dublin (June 21)
Wembley Stadium, London (June 24)
Ricoh Arena, Coventry (June 25)
Hampden Park, Glasgow (June 27)
Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester (June 29)

Last week saw Rihanna perform ‘Work’ with Drake at her gig in Miami.
