The Weeknd has posted a 30-second clip of new music on his Instagram page.
The teaser features The Weeknd singing wordlessly over a smooth, ambient and luxurious aural backdrop similar to his recent music.
The clip could be the first music from The Weeknd since last year’s album ‘A Beauty Behind The Madness’, although he has guested on several remixes recently.
It’s also believed the music could be a taste of The Weeknd’s collaboration with Cashmere Cat. Cat confirmed the first single from his new album ‘Wild Love’ will be released tomorrow, and it’s known he’s been in the studio with The Weeknd.
The track plays on an entirely black video, matching the all-black look of The Weeknd’s current Twitter avatar.
The Weeknd remixed Bryson Tiller’s single ‘Rambo’, as well as guesting on ‘6 Inch’ on Beyonce’s album ‘Lemonade’. Since the release of ‘A Beauty Behind The Madness’, he’s also remixed ‘Low Life’ for Future and ‘Pass Dat’ for Jeremih.
It’s also been confirmed by an executive at The Weekend’s record label, Republic, that the singer has been working with Daft Punk.
It isn’t yet clear if the track would be The Weeknd featuring on new Daft Punk music, or if the duo are producing new tracks for The Weeknd. Daft Punk have previously produced for Pharrell Williams, Kanye West and N.E.R.D.
Daft Punk haven’t done a remix since they overhauled Ami Suzuki’s single ‘All Night Long’ in 2011, having provided remixes for Gabrielle and Franz Ferdinand early in their career.
