The Weeknd to release new single in June, denies rumours of album dropping in August

The R&B singer released his last album 'Kiss Land' in 2013

R&B singer The Weeknd is reportedly preparing to release a new single, following on from his hugely successful track ‘Earned It’.

The musician’s most recent single, ‘Earned It’ appears on the soundtrack to the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey and recently reached Number Three in the US.

Now, Republic Records executive Charlie Walk has hinted that a new song will surface in June. Walk recently tweeted, “I just worked out to the craziest @theweeknd song ever. Can’t wait for you to hear it in June!”

Reports followed that The Weeknd would release an entire new album on August 28, however the singer – real name Abel Tesfaye – has since clarified on Twitter that “information about my album date is false”.

The Weeknd released his album ‘Kiss Land’ in 2013. He shared two previously unheard songs, ‘King Of The Fall’ and ‘Often’, in July 2014.

Tesfaye debuted a song that is rumoured to be titled ‘Mood Music’ at SXSW festival in March. The Canadian artist performed the track at YouTube’s party at the Austin, Texas festival.

Diddy recently revealed he is to return to producing, naming The Weeknd as one of the artists he will collaborate with. In a recent Instagram post, Diddy said his return to production for artists would only last for a year. The photo saw him talking to Pusha T in the studio and named Kanye West, Pusha, A$AP Ferg, Cassie, The LOX “and many more” as the artists he would be working with.
