The Weeknd is reported to have donated $250,000 (£193,338) to the Black Lives Matter network.
The network is a “chapter-based national organisation working for the validity of Black life”.
According to The Fader, two sources have confirmed the donation from the musician, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye.
After the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police in July, Tesfaye tweeted: “Enough is enough. it’s time to stand up for this. we can either sit and watch, or do something about it. the time is now. #blacklivesmatter.”
He also tweeted the hashtag “#BLUELIVESMURDER.”
