A limited-edition signed vinyl set of the mixtapes that shot The Weeknd to fame are not signed by the artist himself, but by a machine, it has been claimed.
Released last week, the ‘Trilogy’ collection brings together the mixtapes ‘Thursday’, ‘Echoes Of Silence’ and ‘House Of Balloons’. It went on sale for $200 via The Weeknd’s official online store and was described as “signed and individually hand-numbered”, with only 500 copies available.
However, Californian music blog City Sound Inertia have claimed that the sets feature a machine-printed version of Abel Tesfaye’s signature incorporated into the artwork, apparently in the same location on all three discs of the set.
The Weeknd recently announced via Twitter that his next album will be called ‘Kiss Land’. No other details have been revealed as yet. The artist recently performed a four-date tour of the UK and will return in November for an arena tour.
NME is awaiting comment from The Weeknd’s representatives.
