Abel Tesfaye says he pulled out of Rihanna's 'Anti' tour because "magic is happening" in the studio
The Weeknd has revealed he is back in the studio working on new material with the team who collaborated on his debut ‘House Of Balloons’.
Recently, the Toronto singer and producer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, pulled out of supporting Rihanna on her ‘Anti’ world tour.
In a new profile published in Vogue, Tesfaye reveals he made the decision because “creatively, some magic is happening right now, and I don’t want to lose it”.
He said little about what his plans for his new music are, saying: “It could be an album or it could be something else, but whatever it is, music is being made.” He later confirmed it is “a new thing.” “Always a new thing,” he said.
It has not yet been confirmed whether The Weeknd will be replaced on Rihanna’s ‘Anti’ tour. Travis $cott and Big Sean will still figure in the shows, however.
At the time the announcement was made, promoters Live Nation released a statement, which read: “Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, the Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international ‘Anti’ World Tour.”
