The White Stripes announce North American tour

They'll hit every Canadian province

The White Stripes have announced the details of an extensive North American tour.

This summer the Detroit duo will hit all 10 Canadian provinces as well as several US cities in support of their forthcoming album, ‘Icky Thump’.

They’ll kick things off at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, BC on June 24 and are planning a special show in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on July 14 to celebrate the band’s 10th anniversary.

“Having never done a full tour of Canada, Meg (White) and I thought it was high time to go whole hog,” Jack White said in an email message.

“We want to take this tour to the far reaches of the Canadian landscape. From the ocean to the permafrost. The best way for us to do that is ensure that we perform in every province and territory in the country, from the Yukon to Prince Edward Island,” White said.

Following the Canadian dates, the band will return Stateside to play the first leg of a US tour that hits the 16 states they have yet to visit during their career. They’ll also play dates in a few major cities including New York and Boston.
