Insane Clown Posse have revealed why Jack White teamed up with them for the most unlikely collaboration.
The former White Stripes man recently joined forces with Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J of the rap/metal act to produce the song ‘Leck Mich Im Arsch’ which is due for release on his Third Man Records label as an exclusive 7” and also digitally on September 13. Violent J said White asked to team up with the rap collective for the track after they crossed paths at an airport. He explained he was more surprised than anyone when they were first approached.
Violent J added:
The most respected musician in the world and one of the most hated musicians in the world. We didn’t expect that call, brother. I told him, ‘I gotta know – why us?’. He said, ‘I find myself going to your web site and looking at it. Some stuff I think is genius, some stuff I don’t understand at all, but I always find myself going back there and seeing what you’re up to.
He also said that a lot of people within the industry were getting excited when White mentioned the collaboration. Violent J told Billboard.com:
White told us that nobody got the kind of reaction he got from his friends in the industry when he told them he was going to do a song with us. His exact quote was, ‘We could’ve done a song with Megadeth and it wouldn’t be as talked-about as us working with you guys.’ That’s crazy awesome.
.
The rapper said Insane Clown Posse have also offered to perform the song with White at the MI Fest on September 17 where The Raconteurs are set to perform but he is waiting to hear back.
