Jack White teams up with Loretta Lynn...
White Stripes joined country music legend LORETTA LYNN onstage in NEW YORK on Saturday night (April 19).
Jack White jumped onstage to perform two country classics, ‘Fist City’ and ‘Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man’, with the 69-year-old during her support slot at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
White Stripes dedicated their third album, ‘White Blood Cells’, to Lynn and recorded a version of her song ‘Rated X’ for the B-side to 2001 single ‘Hotel Yorba’.
During their duet, Lynn praised the band and exchanged compliments with Jack White.
She said: “This is a very special night for me because I’m working with my idols, White Stripes.”
The band later took centre stage for an hour-long set, dedicating ‘Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground’ to Lynn. Highlights included new album tracks ‘I Want To Be The Boy Who Warms Your Mother’s Heart’, ‘Ball And Biscuit’ and ‘The Hardest Button To Button’.
According to MTV, Meg White received a rapturous reception during her performance of ‘In The Cold, Cold Night’ before Lynn joined the band during the encore for a version of her ‘Rated X’.
