It's all about the music as the two-piece rock Brighton...
THE WHITE STRIPES kicked off their sold-out UK tour in explosive style at BRIGHTON’s CONCORDE 2 club last night (November 11).
The Detroit blues-garage two-piece took to the stage in front of the 500-capacity venue and played an hour-long set made up of songs selected from their back catalogue, including their cover of country standard ‘Jolene’ and latest single ‘Hotel Yorba’.
Dressed in trademark red T-shirt and trousers and playing under a flag of their home city, The White Stripes were supported by fellow Detroit rockers The Von Bondies who feature >Stripesguitarist Jack White’s girlfriend, Marcie Bolen, on guitar.
Compared to the last time The White Stripes played in the UK – where everyone from Kate Moss and the nation’s tabloid press descended on their shows – this was a relatively low-key affair. The brother and sister pair continue the tour at Liverpool’s L2 tomorrow (November 13). ‘Hotel Yorba’ is released today.
