Roger Daltrey awarded CBE...
THE WHO frontman Roger Daltrey has been awarded a CBE by the Queen in the New Year Honours List (January 31).
The star gets his gong for services to music and charity. Daltrey is patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust, which has raised more than £2m with concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
Though his award is a little short of the knighthood presently previously to his contemporaries such as Paul McCartney and Elton John, the 60 year-old said he was “so pleased” to get his honour. It is really great to be honoured by my country,” he said.
He is the only rock star on the list this year, which has concentrated on Britain’s Olympian sports stars.
