These New Puritans play new songs at Leeds Festival

Plus band ditch trademark chainmail outfit

These New Puritans played two new songs during their set at Leeds Festival today (August 16).

The Southend new-wave punks played ‘Orchids’ and ‘Firepower during their appearance on the Festival Republic stage.

‘Firepower’ is a new version of the track ‘Fffire’, and was the highlight of a set built around tracks from the bands’ debut album ‘Beat Pyramid’ – including ‘Colours’ and ‘Swords Of Truth’.

Notably, singer Jack Barnett played the gig without wearing his trademark chainmail outfit.

Barnett told NME.COM afterwards that the suit is finished, explaining “It’s absolutely battered and completely unwearable”.

These New Puritans played:

‘Swords Of Truth’

‘C 16’

‘Infinity Ytinifni’
