Thom Yorke has released a new solo song to soundtrack a fashion show event.
‘Coloured Candy’ featured as the soundtrack for New York fashion chain Rag & Bone’s launch of their 2017 spring/summer collection.
Yorke has worked with the firm before, when he and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich did a mix for the launch of a range in 2013.
‘Coloured Candy’ includes lyrics from the newspaper which Radiohead gave away with their 2011 album ‘The King Of Limbs’. The newspaper, The Universal Sigh, was a spoof broadsheet which the band gave away at pop-up events for the album’s release.
It’s Yorke’s first new music since the release of Radiohead’s recent album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’, which lost out to Skepta’s album ‘Konnichiwa’ at the Hyundai Mercury Prize yesterday (September 15).
Radiohead didn’t attend the ceremony, though a gap in their tour meant they would have been able to as their next concert isn’t until September 30 at Austin City Limits festival in Texas.
Instead, the band sent organisers a video directed by filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson of Yorke and Jonny Greenwood performing ‘Present Tense’.
Radiohead are due to finish touring this year with a second Austin City Limits headline performance on October 7, though Yorke said on his recent Radio 1 co-host with Benji B that the band will tour again in 2017.
