Timbaland spins forthcoming album in LA

'Shock Value' features an all-star cast

Timbaland previewed several tracks from his forthcoming album for a handful of people in Los Angeles last night (February 12).

The super-producer who masterminded recent hits from Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado manned the console at the posh Thom Thom Club in Santa Monica.

He spun several songs from his forthcoming album, ‘Shock Value’, which features notable collaborators including Timberlake, Furtado, Jay-Z and MIA, as well as more unexpected guests such as Fall Out Boy, The Hives, She Wants Revenge and Elton John.

“It’s some different type of shit,” Timbland told the crowd that was there by invitation-only. “It ain’t just rap, it’s some of everything.”

Timbaland danced and rapped along with his songs, many of which have the catchy pop sensibility and a rap call-and-response that have become trademarks of Timbaland‘s style.

Encouraging the crowd to make some noise he said, “You brought me out of the studio to do this, so I need to know you’re all with me!”

The album’s lead single, ‘Give It To Me’, features vocals from Furtado and Timberlake alongside rapping from Timbaland, and sounds as if it could be the companion piece to Furtado and Timbaland‘s ‘Promiscuous Girl’.

The artist/producer is now finishing the final mixes of the album, which is due out on March 27 as previously announced.
