Timbaland hints at plans to record country album with Justin Timberlake

The producer is considering heading into the studio after Timberlake joined forces with Chris Stapleton

Timbaland has hinted that he is planning to record a country album with Justin Timberlake.

The hip-hop producer said he was considering heading into the studio with the singer, in an interview with TMZ which you can watch below, following Timberlake’s recent performance of ‘Drink You Away’ with country singer Chris Stapleton at the CMA Awards.

“It’s (‘Drink You Away’) is now starting to be one of the biggest songs,” he told the showbiz website before he suggested that the pair could record a country album. “Now that you put it out there, why not?,” he added.

“We are country. He’s from Tennessee, I’m from Virginia. It’s only right that we try to tap into what we was raised in.”

Timberlake recently responded to comments made by Kanye West during the rapper’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards, which saw West claim that Timberlake cried after not winning a Grammy Award in 2007.

Timberlake lost out on the Album Of The Year award to Dixie Chicks that year, with West saying of the incident, “I sat at the Grammys and saw Justin Timberlake and Cee Lo lose; Gnarls Barkley and the ‘FutureSex/LoveSounds’ album. I ain’t trying to put you on blast, but I saw that man in tears. He deserved to win Album of the Year.”

Responding to the remark via Twitter, Timberlake appeared to shrug off the claim. He wrote, “Kanye is so cute, y’all.”

The singer later added, “Jokes, you guys… Jokes. #chill… Btw… I JUST watched my man ‘Ye’s FULL speech… He always has a point. And I support it. #truth”
