Tinie Tempah discusses high-fiving Prince William at the BAFTAs

The rapper involved the Duke of Cambridge in his ceremony opening performance

Tinie Tempah has spoken about high-fiving Prince William at last night’s BAFTA Awards ceremony in London (February 17).

Talking to BBC News after the performance, he said: “Oh wow – d’you know what, it was great, I just saw him there and I was like, d’you what, why not? And it felt great. I’ve seen my Twitter, it’s going crazy at the minute, but it was fun. Seriously, like such a memorable performance.” Click above to watch footage of the high-five.

He added that he felt ‘safe’ involving the Duke of Cambridge in the performance because the pair had met before. He commented: “We’ve met a couple of times now, so I felt safe. I felt like something bad isn’t going to happen and it was alright. I was happy.”

Tinie Tempah last year postponed his December 2013 UK arena tour until March and April of this year, after posting a statement on his website, which said he was so focused on working on putting out his new second album ‘Demonstration’ that he’d not had enough time to prepare for the shows.

The follow-up to his 2010 debut ‘Disc-Overy’, was released in November 2013 and features guest appearances from 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Labrinth, Laura Mvula and Emeli Sandé.
