London’s LA2 venue was evacuated on Sunday night (May 23) after glam punk act THE TOILET BOYS set fire to the venue with a flame-throwing guitar.
A balloon net on the ceiling caught fire during the band’s set prompting venue staff to clear the crowd on to the street at around 8pm.
One gig-goer told NME: “The three guitarists had these pyrotechnic devices and one of them shot too high, hitting a balloon net.
“None of the crowd seemed that bothered but there were bits of burnt netting floating down on the crowd.”
The gig resumed around 9.30pm after an inspection from the fire brigade with a set from Groop Dogdrill and headliners Nashville Pussy.
A spokesman for the LA2 confirmed there had been a fire but wouldn’t comment further.
Nashville Pussy had planned a fire-breathing section to their show but called it off due to the earlier incident.
