He's conquering his fear of heights
Tom Grennan will be embarking on a skydive tomorrow morning (May 26) all in the name of mental health charity MIND.
The solo artist set up a Just Giving page earlier this week in hopes of raising £600 for the cause. “Right I want you all to ‘aim higher’ and on the 26th May I’m gunna do the same,” he writes on the page description.
“I have a few fears in life and over the years heights have grandly become a bigger fear for me!!! SO IM GUNNA JUMP OUT A PLANE TO AIM HIGHER AND TRY AND SHIFT THIS FEAR while writing this it’s making me feel sick and not a good sick lol! I’m actually bricking it but like I said I wanna aim higher. I’m doing it for MIND charity so please sponsor for this great cause, i wanna raise £600.” You can head to the page and donate here.
The rising solo artist was picked as one of the NME 100 most essential new bands to keep an eye on this year. He releases his debut album ‘Lighting Matches’ in July, with Grennan describing it as “different”.
“It takes you on a journey,” he added. “There’s a lot of orchestra, a lot of brass, a lot of gospel. There are a lot of surprises on there.”
He also sang the praises of Liam Gallagher earlier this year, explaining that he was not only hoping to meet him, but was “100%” game for a collaboration.
“That’s my plan, man,” laughed Grennan. “I reckon Liam Gallagher will love me as well. Liam, if you’re watching – oi oi.”
