The cover was assembled by the heavy metal-themed comedy YouTube channel Two Minutes To Late Night, who have curated dozens of virtual supergroups to cover well-known songs in heavier styles. The channel also enlisted Thursday to cover Bruce Springsteen‘s ‘Dancing In The Dark’ earlier this year.
The cover’s full lineup features Touché Amoré frontman Jeremy Bolm on lead vocals, PUP’s Steve Sladkowski and Bloodbather’s Salem Vex on guitar, Vein.FM’s Jon Lhaubouet on bass and Twitching Tongues’ Colin Young on drums.
The channel’s leader Jordan Olds, in character as Gwarsenio Hall, provides backing vocals and additional guitar.
The video for the cover also features a cameo from All Elite Wrestling star Orange Cassidy. The American wrestler uses the original Pixies song as his entrance music, as reported by Pitchfork in March.

In a post to his Instagram page, Bolm expressed his excitement at working on the project.
“When Gwarsenio Hall asks you to sing a cover of ‘Where Is My Mind?’ with a bunch of talented people, you must agree,” he wrote.
Touché Amoré released their fifth studio album, ‘Lament’, in October 2020. In a four-star review, NME‘s James McMahon described Touché Amoré as “a band of ordinary men with [an] extraordinary understanding of their craft.”
“This isn’t merely a record by a good band,” he wrote. “This is a record by an important one that is now teetering on the edge of greatness.”
