The tussle is over whether cute singer Fran Healy or handsome bassist Dougie Payne is "hotter"...
At least ten Travis fans were thrown out of the band’s gig at NEW YORK CITY’S ROSELAND BALLROOM last night (September 7) following a fight over whether singer FRAN HEALY or bassist DOUGIE PAYNE was ‘hotter’.
An eyewitness said the argument began in the downstairs toilet of the venue between two female fans. The exchange then escalated from hair pulling and cat calling into a full-on fight when others collected around and boyfriends became involved.
When things looked like they were going to develop into a riot, at least ten people were escorted out, with one girl said to have a badly beaten face.
A spokesperson for Travis this morning said he was unable to comment as he was unaware of the incident.
nme.com does not know whether it was the notoriously polite Fran or Dougie who was deemed ‘hotter’ in the end.
The show was Travis‘ biggest ever in New York. Following countless visits to the US this year the indications are that they will be the only UK guitar band to break the country this year. They will remain in the US to record their third album at the end of the current round of dates in late October.
Last night they played ‘Coming Around’ b-side ‘Only Molly Knows’, although it is unclear if it will show up on the album, provisionally titled ‘Afterglow’. It is likely that ‘Flowers In The Window’, also performed last night and set to appear on the Nigel Godrich-produced album, will be Travis’ next single.
